Else Collins

Discovering Gándara was like receiving an invitation to share and experience companionship, listening and observation; an open door to unlearn what had been learned and an opportunity to rebuild a philosophy of life together on a solid foundation where freedom is paramount.

As one person told me during my first week in Gándara, alluding to “Matrix”: “You have chosen the red pill and now there is no going back. You will never see the world in the same way again” and that’s what has happened. More than the red pill, I would say that I have chosen the green pill of Gandara’s fields, its nature; the brown of its trees, its wood; the gray of the stone buildings; the yellow of the sun that enters its open spaces every morning.

Discovering Gándara has confirmed my belief that an education based on love and respect, which I have always longed for, is possible.

Being born into a multicultural family (United States and Spain), Else grew up speaking both languages. She has a degree in Pedagogy from the University of Oviedo and a qualification in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and EELE (Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language).

During the first years of her professional career, she worked in the social field and then moved on to the educational field, where she now has more than 6 years of experience. Her traveling spirit has led her to teach in different parts of the world: Poland, Croatia, Thailand and China, places where she has gained experience and an open and inclusive vision of society.
