Marina Ribas

I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of Gándara. Moved by the same enthusiasm, we have joined our efforts to work with affection, determination and, especially, respect. I feel grateful and pleased to be able to share the day-to-day experiences with the children. They encourage me to keep going in this adventure. It is such a beautiful experience to see that, when offered a place where they can feel respected and treated with love, children are happy to come to school, they feel engaged, enthused, and driven by their innermost feelings, and that is when their authentic interests show through and they enjoy learning.

To me, Gándara has been and continues to be the chance to stop the clock, sit down and observe, reflecting on children’s real needs and looking for the best way to accompany them without interfering with the most authentic stages in their development.

Gándara has been and continues to be an ongoing learning process.

Marina has a Teaching Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Vigo (2010-2013), where she specialized in Curricular Development, and she also completed her Intermediate Music studies in Flute (Barcelona and Vigo, 2009).

Like most of the teaching staff, Marina has trained in Montessori methodology for elementary school with Rebeca González and Ainhara Muruzábal, for pre-school with Céline Hameury, and has also done training in respectful guidance and active learning with Tinus Wijnakker (Alavida school, Madrid).

Furthermore, she is part of the Governing Board and was Gándara´s Head Teacher until Sept. 2018. She is currently in charge of the school management, doing counseling, planning and evaluation tasks.

In addition, Marina is co-owner of Noguera y Valdés, S.L., the family business that funded the school, and whose financial support we are very grateful for.
