Raquel Galavís

For me Gándara is a great chance to give our children and society a different school model based on principles that I consider paramount to the development of human communities and their individuals. Such principles include respect for personal needs, non-violent communication, internal motivation, critical thinking and personal self-management. This is a dream that has not only come true, but has gone beyond my highest expectations.

Raquel and Elena Espinosa were the first founders of Gándara. We thank Raquel for lending us the first facilities where the school started.

She has a Degree in Law from the Spanish Open University (UNED, 1993-1998) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Drama from Vigo’s Drama School (2002-2004). She has worked extensively in children’s theatre and on TV.

Also, she did her Senior Year at the North Fayette High School, West Union (U.S.A) and studied a year of International Relationships at Drake University, Des Moines (U.S.A).

She has done various introductory and advanced courses on the Montessori method, namely with Rebeca González, Ainhara Muruzábal and Céline Hameury, as well as on active learning and emotional guidance with Tinus Wijnakker (Alavida, Madrid).

Raquel is a member of the Governing Board and is currently in charge of counseling, planning and evaluation.
