Iago Ferraz

Working at Gándara is for me a dream come true. 15 years ago, when I started my studies in education, an idea, perhaps just a fanciful dream, began taking shape in my mind: ‘I would like to create a school, and not just any kind of school, but a place based on the respect and love for children, where freedom is above repression; a transformative place, a place surrounded by nature…’ Today I am really happy to be here, and to be learning from the children, enjoying their loving company every day and the company of the great Gándara team. For me, being part of Gándara means personal growth, learning every day and enjoying every minute, for which I feel fortunate and profoundly grateful.

Iago has been linked to Gándara since its inception.

He holds a University Diploma in Social Education by the University of Vigo (2008-2011). As part of his studies, he spent an academic year at the Universitatea Aurel Vlaicu din Aradin Rumania (2009-2010). He then completed a Masters Course on Disciplinary Intervention in Diverse Educational Contexts at the Federal University of Bahia, in Brazil. He is also a Social Integration Specialist by the Colegio San José de la Guía (Vigo, 2006-2008) and did a Masters Course in Systemic Pedagogy at the CUDEC University (2016-2018).

Iago has trained in Montessori methodology for elementary school with Ainhara Muruzábal and Rebeca González, for pre-school with Céline Hameury, and in respectful guidance and active learning with Tinus Wijnakker.

Before joining Gándara, Iago worked in the field of special education.

He speaks Galician, Portuguese, English and Rumanian, and is an amateur musician.
